A/V Fridays - A Futurama Inconvenient Truth Trailer

This is an oldie but goodie.

I would be remiss as an eco-geek and an all-round geek if I didn’t mention that the new Futurama movie (released this Tuesday) was carbon neutral in it’s production.  Some of that involved purchasing windfarm credits, which isn’t the same as not creating the damage to begin with, but it’s better than nothing.  And while the DVD case is cardboard, it is shrinkwrapped.  But the Futurama crew also worked to reduce their carbon footprint drastically, and are working to make even more changes for the future movies.

The movie is fun, but I really wish they’d just go back to making regular Futurama episodes (why did they ever stop?).  Still, I love that Futurama is keeping up with their social and environmental themes, and Zoidberg never fails to make me giggle.

Al Gore’s daughter has been a writer for Futurama, and Al Gore has appeared as himself several times (although he’s not in the latest release).  Here he is, in the video above, talking with Bender about An Inconvenient Truth.

Maybe it was a grandma or great aunt who lived through the Depression and learned to save anything that was usable, maybe it was just someone who was thrifty and knew how to pinch pennies. What ever the reason behind it, saving wrapping paper makes good green sense.
