Today is all about giving thanks and eating good food with friends and family. Or, if you’re my family, Saturday will be that day, because someone (I’m not saying me, but I’m not saying it wasn’t me either) forgot to defrost the main event. Um. . . so anyway, as I was saying, today is all about giving thanks, but for some people, tomorrow is the holiday they wait all year for — Black Friday. The crazy day where stores open at 4AM with “door buster” sales and “amazing” deals on all sorts of things we could admit we don’t really need if we take a minute from the consumer frenzy to think about it.

Tomorrow, instead of waiting in line before the sun comes up, stay in bed (if you don’t have to work). Eat a leisurely breakfast. Spend more time with your family. Read a book. Read some blogs. Knit. Craft. Write a letter. Go for a hike. Walk the dog. Bake some cookies. Play a board game. But what ever you do, don’t buy anything. (more…)
