Blue Planet Run

Sabrina contacted me last week to tell me a bit about Blue Planet Run. I thought it was such an interesting organization, and I asked her to write a guest post to tell all of you about Blue Planet Run. Check out her post.
Water. It is a topic worth tapping into: shortages, flooding, crumbling infrastructure, privatization…the issues run far and deep. People are waking up to the fact that this vital resource is soon to have more impact than oil. Some solutions are within our reach. At home, conservation and smart consumer choices are the first line of attack. Gray-water systems for the garden are also becoming possible. Keeping up on local water issues is important.
As tough as it is for many of us, it’s far worse elsewhere.
- 1.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water.
- Half of all the hospital beds in the world are filled with people sick from waterborne diseases.
- Many children forgo school so they can walk on average 6 kilometers each day to fetch water that is likely not even safe to use.
The Blue Planet Run Foundation is working to end the global water crisis and ensure safe drinking water through the simple and available techniques that already exist today! $30 can give one person safe drinking water FOR LIFE! Check out www.blueplanetrun.org
