Sinol All-Natural Fast Headache Relief

sinol-bottles-226×183.jpg

I get migraines and I’m stubborn about them.  I hate taking migraine medication, because it knocks me out and leaves me feeling funky for days.  Plus, there are all those fun possible side effects.

For the past three days, I’ve had a nasty headache that I’ve been barely controlling with Tylenol.  I know, that’s not the most responsible way to handle things, but it allowed me to stay functional, despite the discomfort.  I managed to get rid of the full-blown migraine horror, but not the nagging, aching headache that got worse whenever I moved my head.

By yesterday, I was at the end of my rope and really ticked at myself.  If I’d just taken the darn migraine meds when the headache first started, I’d have been feeling better, even with the day or so of funk that follows.

While shopping at our local natural foods store, I decided to check out the herbal aisle to see if they had anything for migraines.   They had a few options, but I decided on Sinol All-Natural Nasal Spray with Capsaicin, because it said “Fast Headache Relief” on the box.  Fast is good and I was desperate.

Capsaicin is the component that makes chili peppers hot and spicy.  The other ingredients are Purified Water, Eucalyptus Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Rosemary Extract, Benzalkonium Chloride, Sea Salt, and Vitamin C.  Sinol is non-addictive and has no harsh side effects.

The box warns:  “When used for the first time, one may experience a light burning sensation which lasts for 2-5 seconds.  This reaction actually relieves headache pain and will subside quickly, similar to eating spicy foods.”

I would like to clarify that the “light burning sensation” is probably akin to putting out a fist full of lit matches with your nostril and for the 2-5 seconds that the sensation lasts, you will want to rip your nose off and throw it far far away from the rest of your body.  That being said, this stuff works like magic.  After three days of being stuck in my awful headache haze, I felt better in seconds.  As soon as the fire was out in my nose (and it does go away quickly), my headache was completely gone, although the box says that it can take up to 20 minutes to work.

Sinol provides relief for migraine, cluster, sinus, premenstrual, menstrual, and tension headaches, and also for indoor and outdoor allergies.

It was a little pricey — I paid fifteen bucks and change, and the Sinol website is selling it for $19.95 plus shipping — but after three days of pain, it would have seemed cheap at twice the price.  And I am going to make sure I have a bottle with me at all times now, so I can stop these darn headaches right when they start.

Thanks for the post Allie. I’ve been looking for a product to help clients when in pain from a migraine while we are working on the cause of their migraines. You may want to look at detoxifying your liver as that is almost always a factor in migraines and headaches.

    Thanks!

Thanks so much for this great tip. I have a friend who suffers from contant migraines. I told her about this and wonder if it could work for her.

Wow, the timing of your post is amazing. I’ve been fighting a migraine all day, and none of the medicine I usually take is working. I’m going to have to try this stuff.

I’m so glad you brought this up Allie. Although I don’t use sinol, I use another product called sinus buster. They have a migraine product that uses capsaicin and feverfew and it’s the only thing that has ever worked for my migraines. I have been spreading the word about pepper ever since I started using it. I got my sinus buster at a health food store here inCali for $12.99.

    Detoxifying your liver?…uh, yeah.

That’s really incredible that you found something on a whim that actually works. Headaches (especially the migraine variety) are hard to lick. When I was a kid, I got them something like every three weeks on a Tuesday. Whatever it was it was amazingly regular. Luckily I grew out of it.

I’d leave the liver out of it if I were you.

This is amazing. I purchased Sinol last night because of my premenstrual headches and poof, my pain was gone. I dont even know how long it took, I had a headache then I didnt have a headache it was very weird. It didnt seem to have that bad a burn to me, sort of like a nice piece of sushi with wasabi which I love. The websitesite shows what retailers carry it. I purchased at Rite Aid for $14.

I have read for years that the herb feverfew is a great migraine preventative. I don’t get them (thank you god!) but it seems worth trying.

Feverfew definitely seems worth trying. Thanks, Roger.

Mickey, I really appreciate your concern for my liver. Maybe I’ll just drink some detox tea and leave it at that.

Andrea, glad you found relief with it too.

Janice, isn’t it amazing that docs will give you scary meds with scary side effects when all it takes is a little hot pepper?

    MG — Feel better!

Erikka, I hope this helps your friend too!

Abbie — what does one do to detoxify their liver? Mickey seems concerned about this.

This line cracked me up: “probably akin to putting out a fist full of lit matches with your nostril and for the 2-5 seconds that the sensation lasts, you will want to rip your nose off and throw it far far away from the rest of your body.”

Thanks for making me laugh. And thanks for letting me know of another non-prescriptive treatment to add to my arsenal! Must purchase ASAP.

I have tried so many things for migraines after 15 years of suffering. Now, could I just ask, How long have you had headaches, and or/ migraines??
I need to really know that to be a believer!

  11. Allie Says:

I’ve had “sick headaches” since I was a kid, but they’ve only been identified as migraines recently. I had a super bad one right before Christmas that drove me to after hours care.

  12. Dana Says:

I used Sinol yesterday for my allergies, and it worked so amazingly fast that I actually thought, ‘I can’t wait for a headache to try this!’ I’m so glad to have found these posts…. it really validates how great I thought the product is!

My doctor gave me Sinol at The New England Center for Headache. They have been using it for patients since 2007. If you suffer from migraines like I do, use the Sinol. I am on other medication for my cholesterol and the doctor told me I could use Sinol with any medication. Seems too amazing to me that a natural product works so well. I get 2-4 bad headaches a month and have so for 27 years, same year I got married, haha. Sinol gives me relief, sometimes I have to use it 2-3 times and it does have a bite to it but that goes away after regular use. I’m on my 5th bottle and buy it also at Rite Aid even though it Says “Sinol Allergy” on the box its the same as the Sinol headache. Now I can enjoy my wine again in the evenings, thank God for that!

  14. Maria Says:

I tried sinol but it didn’t work. then I tried Sinus Buster and it did the trick right away. Sinus Buster is stronger and they have a special migraine formula made with capsaicin and feverfew. I bought mine at Hi-Health in Scottsdale, AZ. I also read that Sinus Buster was the first capsaicin nasal spray ever which was put on the market in 2003.

  15. Gwen Says:

I have tried both sinusbuster and sinol and for me the stronger sinusbuster helped more. I think it’s the feverfew that makes a difference. jmo.

I tried Sinol for my migraines after reading some of these posts, and I agree on two points. 1…the burn is NOT that bad at all, and 2…it worked within minutes. If you ask me, the cost is a very small price to pay to get rid of such horrendous pain. I’m also relieved to find something that’s all natural, because I’m especially conscious these days of all the chemicals and junk that gets put in our foods/medications etc. What a relief!
