Frontline: Hot Politics

Every time I watch Frontline, I’m reminded of that bumper sticker slogan: If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention. Last night, Frontline was all about climate change and the politics behind our attitudes toward climate change.

If you missed it, you can view the full episode here. If you watched it, there’s a lot of follow-up information on the Frontline website.

That’s the problem with being politically aware: If you have half a brain, you wind up being angry all the time. Which I am. Grr. (I just made a really angry face.)

Yeah, Frontline never fails to get me riled up, and I can’t say I’m a regular viewer b/c of that.

I bet it was an excellent angry face.

i feel like any source of news i see *newspapers, magazines, television, internet* immediately make me angry. i’ve actually stopped reading and viewing news because i don’t know what else to do and i don’t know what to do with anger like that.

I know! Sometimes, you have to turn it all off to find some peace.

Another reason to support PBS. It’s frustrating, but important information to know.

Dr. Weil recommends a media break or a news fast. I rarely, if ever, watch TV news or read newspapers. I am, however, an NPR and PBS addict. I get the necessary information without all the hype, scare tactics, negativity, and propaganda.

Very good point! We have good local news here, but some of the national stuff makes you feel like you need to bunker down with some bottled water and never leave the house again. It’s good to get the straight facts. And I love the idea of a news fast.

I actually took a year long news fast at one point. I read headlines online, so I knew what was going on, but didn’t watch the news for a year. It was needed and effective.
