Man gets bothered by big squid.

A fuel plant that gets its power from algae and another that will get power from waves.

Haute Nature found really cool clocks made from vintage plates.

Andie MacDowell is green.

  3. Mickey — that’s exactly why I put that there. In addition to squirrels, I now think Andie MacDowell is funny too.

Rach, do you have any idea how to drill into glass like that? I’d love to make something like those clocks.

  4. those clocks take me back to my Memere’s house, where she had dishes like that she used every day. to me now, those are like, special, one-time-only plates, but she served me my pb and j sandwiches on them and tapioca pudding in little bowls. maybe there was a different sense of presentation for every day life back in the day…

  5. ps. how do you find all these other sites to mention? do you go to a regular list of usuals or do you always try to find new ones? or a combo of both?

  6. shoot, pps - to drill into the glass i am thinking you need a super fine drill, one like a jeweler would use for drilling…a drill press. see this site for an example -

  7. Andie MacDowell lives in my town (Asheville, NC). I always see her out at the organic grocery store or running around her (ridiculously expensive) neighborhood. It’s really easy to be “green” in Asheville. It’s everywhere you go!! Come visit and you’ll see :)
(but don’t tell the other locals I sent you)

Tip of the Day

Melt Down Old Candles

If you light candles in your house, you’ll know that there’s a point where there’s still wax left, but the wick is gone.  Recycle the wax and make new candles!
