Pets for the Environment

Pets for the Environment, the new campaign started by the Environmental Working Group is working to test the safety of pet food.

From Pets for the Environment:

Our goal is to raise $47,000 by Friday, May 23 so we can send major brands of cat and dog food to the same lab that tested my blood for harmful chemicals.

No one likes eating flame retardants and mercury. With your support, we’ll:

  • test 10 brands of canned wet cat and dog food for chemicals like mercury, lead, and bisphenol A
  • test 10 brands of dry dog and cat food for chemicals like flame retardants and nonstick chemicals
  • protect pets and humans by pressuring Congress for better standards

If you donate $25 or more, you’ll get a cute Pets for the Environment green heart tag so your pet can show their commitment to the cause.  Learn more and donate here.

    Allie, you’re a rockstar.

Thanks so much for spreading the word. We really want to do this work, but without the funding it just can’t happen (ah, the life of a small nonprofit). It’s thanks to people like you that we’ve got a shot!
