When you were a kid, did you have to change into play clothes when you got home from school?  Well, keep it up.  It’s a good practice.

Change into old clothes when you come home.  You’ll keep your good clothes stain free while you cook, clean, and eat.  You’ll also cut down on your need for stain removers, and may even be able to wear your “street clothes” another time before you wash them.   And over all, you’ll prolong the life of your wardrobe.  As your street clothes wear out, you can give them play clothes status and get more use out of them.

  1. I SO do this.

Only a few times have I admitted to people, “I actively avoid washing my clothes!” They think I’m crazy or lazy - but it makes so much sense! I’m using less water, less energy to wash and dry - and my favorite clothes stay nice for ages because I’m not wearing them out in the wash cycle.

It has always driven me crazy that my husband won’t change clothes when he gets home from work. After 20 years, I’ve given up trying to convince him - but wince - WINCE - when I see him wiping his hands on his Dockers. If he changed his pants - I’d only be washing them 1/2 as often.
