My second grade teacher told us that back in colonial times it was considered bad luck to sleep with the closet doors open. Ever since then, I have to close every closet in the house before I go to sleep.

Little did I know, I was not only protecting myself from bad luck, but saving a little bit of energy.

It’s been chilly in the Northeast over the past few days. Try to hold off turning on the heat as long as you can. But when you do turn on the heat, make sure you’re only heating the spaces in your house that need heat. Your closet doesn’t need to be heated. Your sweaters can handle the chill.

Close your closet doors and save some energy. It’s bad luck to keep them open anyway.
