Well, you better make sure it’s running efficiently. Okay, I know that’s not the joke, but according to National Geographic, doing two simple things to your refrigerator can save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

- Maintain a tight seal on the door. To test the seal, close a dollar bill or piece of paper in the door. If you can pull it out easily, you need a new seal.
