According to The Commission for Integrated Transport, two simple changes to your driving habits can reduce your fuel consumption by 25%.

  1. Observe the speed limit.  In track tests, a car going 80 miles per hour produced a third more CO2 than a car going 70 miles per hour.
  2. Turn of the A/C.  Air conditioning increases your fuel consumption by 10%.  Unfortunately, the wind resistance created by driving with the windows open also increases gas consumption.  Your best bet — when you can, turn off the A/C and use outside air to cool your car through the vents.
