Tip of the Day - Reuse Disposables

I got a free sample of one of those disposable dusters awhile ago, and was so torn. It worked very well. But it’s something you use once and chuck. Very wasteful.

Disposable product manufacturers make money on repeat sales (obviously), so they aren’t going to advertise ways to reuse their so-called disposable products. Try to find new ways to use products that were originally intended for one time use.

While I was cleaning, I took the hose attachment to the vacuum and cleaned my disposable duster. It works great, over and over again. Once it’s totally worn out, you can take the handle and make your own washable dusters, following the directions at Rostitchery (and check out the whole site. This lady is amazing!).

Don’t limit it to dusters. Go further. Use your old toothbrush to scrub grout. Zap your sponges in the microwave to sanitize and use them a little longer. Avoid one use items, but if they do end up in your home, try to get more than one use out of them.
