Tip of the Day - Shine Your Shoes With Banana Peels

I don’t normally watch morning TV shows, but my pup and I were lazing around the living room on Saturday and I turned the tube on.  There was a segment on Today on ways to handle “Monday Morning Mishaps.”  One of the mishaps was having scuffed shoes.  According to their mishap expert, if your shoes are scuffed, rubbing the inside of a banana peel over them will work as well as shoe polish.  If you don’t have access to a banana, try olive oil.

I can’t imagine shoe polish is a particularly healthy substance — the way it smells seems to say otherwise — so it’s nice to have an eco-friendly substitute.

  1. I like scuffs. But speaking of bananas, you’ll be happy to know that I am at this very moment enjoying an ORGANIC banana and peanut butter (also organic) sandwich.

    Bananas? Check.

  2. Yeah, I have to admit that I mostly just wear my hiking boots, and if there are scuffs on them, they are well obscured by mud. But were I to wear nice shoes, I’d be more inclined to grab for the banana than the polish.

I am happy to know you’re enjoying such a delicious organic sandwich. Now I’m craving one. . .
