I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends. . .

Since I started this blog, I have put up at least two posts a day, every week day, with breaks only for the really major holidays.  And if my calculations are correct, I’ve written over 2,000 posts in just over a year.  All of this makes for a blogger who is . . . well, I’m a little burnt out.

I love Allie’s Answers.  I love all of you.  I’m not going anywhere, but I am taking a little break — a blogcation, if you will — to clear my head, make some plans, and keep this blog from getting stale.  But you won’t be left hanging.  Oh, no!  Some of the amazing, fantastic, wonderful, incredible, smart, witty, challenging, kind blog friends I’ve met in the past year are going to hold court for me.  They have interesting things to say, and I think you’ll enjoy some different perspectives on going green.

When I come back, there are going to be some exciting changes around here.  Please, stick around.  And while I’m gone, drop me a note or leave me a comment to let me know what content features you love, the segments you don’t ever read, or what you’d like to see included in the new and improved Allie’s Answers.

  1. Hey Allie,
I lurk, but read your blog every day and want to wish you a happy blogging holiday. I know just how much time, love and energy goes into keeping up a great blog such as yours and I want to let you know, that even though I don’t leave comments I really appreciate all you do.

How wonderful to have friends to take up the slack for you while you take a well earned break.

Have a wonderful time and be sure to indulge in lots of ‘me time’.

  2. The Dark Moon is happening right now. It’s a time of reflection. Seems your instincts and the Dark Moon are in sync!

Can’t wait to see the changes when you’re blogaction is over!

  3. Hi Allie,
Well, I’ve found it pretty amazing that you’ve managed to churn out so many posts - that really does sound amazing.

Sometimes I prefer to read blogs that don’t post so often, and find it more exciting when they do. I have a couple of blogs with unread posts in my reader, because they post so many in a day I can’t give them all the due attention they deserve!

    You definitely deserve a holiday!

  9. Hi Allie,
I read your blog every day. I hope you have a great vacation and come back energized. I enjoy the recipes, especially the meat free ones. I also like when you post video links. Those are my two favorite type posts.

  11. Goodness, it seems half the sustainable/green blogosphere has taken a break! So, you’re not alone. Do enjoy your time. I understand completely - it’s a lot. It’s rewarding, but it’s a lot of time, energy, fretting (about whether or not anyone is reading, and if your word is getting out), carefully answering emails and comments, … whew. Renewal is necessary. We’ll miss you. ; )

I love your “What’s Going On” posts - I inevitably find something there I didn’t know, some new blog I hadn’t read, or some idea is sparked in me. Also like your “Recycled Tips of the Day”. Since I just don’t have a chance to come by as often as I’d like, I do wish you had a “Recent Posts” listing, so I could catch up on what I’ve missed… But I love your blog just the way it is, too. And your pics are always beautiful.

  12. I feel for you! I think 2 a day is really a lot. But good for you! You deserve a break. I have been just trying to leanr the ropes of getting a blog up and running and was searching for “green” mom blogs to check out. Go green! Keep blogging green-style! Best, Autumn

Tip of the Day

Soak Up Stains With Salt

I’ve been a little lax about scrubbing the kitchen sink lately. It’s old white porcelain and soaks up stains like nobody’s business. If I keep up with it, a gentle all purpose cleaner is enough to get the stains out, but when I let it go, it’s usually time to bring out the big guns.
